Erie Canal Commemoration
The Preservation Coalition is linking up with preservation and canal groups across the state to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the completion of the Erie Canal in the year 2000.
Coalition member Ellen Stay designed the logo above, which we hope to make ubiquitous across the state on mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, etc. to help defray expenses.
October 25, 2000 is D-Day,
175 years after Dewitt Clinton left Commercial Slip in Buffalo en route for New York harbor with a keg of Lake Erie water to dump into the Atlantic.
